Open Notepad or Wordpad (in which case, be sure to save it as text-only) and type in "this app can break" or "this api can break" (without the quotes), save the document, close the application, then open the document from explorer.

What do you see? I can't read Chinese.

Just a note: I think this only works on Windows XP. If you're running Vista or other Windows versions, it may not work. Here's what I got:
